OmniVision

An immersive visual space created by a seamless screen spanning up to 270 degrees. Screenings include “TARGET HAL Micro Adventure” (produced by Shoji Kawamori).

Viewing requires booking the “Group Tour.”

This guided tour introduces CYBERDYNE and its wearable cyborg HAL®.

Learn about the wide range of technologies developed by CYBERDYNE and how its flagship product, HAL, is applied across various fields.

► 2. Original Movie Screening

Approx. 15 minutes

Enjoy an original film themed around HAL on a seamless screen spanning up to 270 degrees.

► 3. HAL Operating Principles: Explanation & Hands-on Experience

Approx. 20 minutes or more

Learn about HAL’s unique operating principles. Sensors will be attached to each participant’s arm, allowing everyone to experience how the system works firsthand.

  • Children below elementary school age may participate free of charge.
  • Up to three accompanying persons—such as tour conductors, interpreters, or student supervisors—may join free of charge when assisting the group. For details, please contact CYBERDYNE STUDIO via the application form or by phone.
  • The fee includes original souvenir goods. Participation without souvenirs is also available at a discounted rate (JPY 100 off).
  • If interpretation services are required, an additional interpretation fee will apply (English only).

How to Apply

Tentative bookings for the group tour are accepted starting one year prior to your preferred tour date.

Please note that bookings made when reservations open are treated as tentative. To confirm your booking, you must submit the dedicated application form that we will send you. Your booking will be confirmed once we have reviewed the form and formally accepted your request.

HAL Try-on Experience

The HAL try-on experience is a program that allows you to wear and experience the wearable cyborg HAL firsthand.

Program Flow

► 3. Change Clothes & Suit Up

Approx. 15 minutes

With assistance from our staff, you will put on HAL.

To fit HAL properly, our staff will attach sensors to your legs and waist.

► 4. Movement Experience

Approx. 30 minutes or more

For the lower-limb type experience, you will wear HAL on your legs and experience the assist function. For the lumbar type experience, you will wear HAL around your waist, lift and carry an item, and experience motion assist.

Eligibility Requirements for the HAL Try-on Experience

To ensure the safe use of HAL, participants must meet the following requirements. Thank you for your understanding.

  1. Participants must have a body type suitable for wearing HAL (Lower-limb type: approx. 40–90 kg in weight and approx. 150–190 cm in height; Lumbar type: waist circumference up to 120 cm).
  2. No severe joint disorders.
  3. Able to understand the instructions and safety precautions.
  4. Must not fall under any of the following:
    • Pregnant.
    • Using active implantable medical devices such as pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs).
  • If you have conditions such as severe high blood pressure, bone fragility, or heart failure, please consult your physician in advance.
  • Depending on your health condition, our staff may determine that you are not eligible to participate.
