【News】Kanagawa prefecture announces an improvement of the work environment with the use of HAL® for Care Support (Lumbar Type) 〜 Effective for reducing the burden on caregivers and decreasing employee turnover 〜

In fiscal year 2015, Kanagawa prefecture conducted a “Consulting support project for improving the work environment”* to introduce cutting-edge robotic technology into care facilities in order to reduce the burden on caregivers and prevent possible risks of back pain, which may lead to a decrease in employee turnover.

Kanagawa prefecture entrusted Shonan Robo Care Center, Inc., a subsidiary wholly owned by CYBERDYNE, INC., with this project, which led to a trial installment of 100 units of HAL® for Care Support (Lumbar Type) to care facilities in Kanagawa prefecture. The result were announced by Kanagawa prefecture on the website set forth below on April 26, 2016, stating that “Effectiveness has been acknowledged in that, care givers who rated the device effective for reducing their burden were over 80 percent and approximately 80 percent of the facilities noted a reduction of employee turnover.”

* A project that installed 100 units of Robot Suit HAL® for Care Support (Lumbar Type) as a trial for 30 designated care facilities to reduce the physical burden on caregivers.

This achievement was made possible partly on account of the “Innovative Cybernetic System for a ZERO Intensive Nursing-care Society” project of the Impulsing Paradigm Change through Disruptive Technologies Program (ImPACT) conducted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
