Amagasaki General Medical Center has utilized HAL Lower Limb Type and HAL Single Joint Type towards 87 patients fighting rare diseases and after-effects of stroke. The technology enables the patient to move their limbs with less fatigue and repeatedly practice movement before being paralyzed. The hospital spokesperson says the technology reactivates neural networks and allows high-quality rehabilitation.

Keisuke Yamada, head of the Neurosurgery department, says, “Robot is not an enemy that takes away our work. It is a new way of doing things. We want to challenge various things, and conduct researches originated from our hospital.” Physiotherapist Akira Syogaki says, “some of my patients were giving up living positively when they got paralyzed. But now I see hope whenever they tell me they want to rehab with robots the next day”
