A video titled “Japan’s Disaster Confronting Technology” was posted on the official YouTube channel of the Prime Minister’s Office of Japan. This video featured the HAL Lumbar Type as one of the examples of a Japanese disaster confronting technology.
The HAL Lumbar Type is a Wearable Cyborg that reduces the load on the lower back when lifting heavy objects, creating a safe and secure work environment. Due to its high waterproof and dustproof performance, the device has been utilized in various disaster recovery sites since 2018, including earthquakes, landslides, and heavy snow disasters. CYBERDYNE is currently developing a new model that challenges to further reduce the weight and thickness, while minimizing the protrusion on the back side. Once this new model is implemented, it will enable a user to drive a car or work in a chair while wearing the device.
“Japan’s Disaster Confronting Technology” is available on the English channel of the Prime Minister’s Office of Japan and the Discovery Channel network in the United States. The Company will continue supporting disaster recovery through the development of various technologies.
